Believe it or not, I am planting tomato plants for a Fall crop! I found some heirloom varieties grown by a local grower, Vilardi Gardens at Summer Winds on Bethany Home Road. It’s best to plant your new transplants where they will receive afternoon shade. Tomato plants are compatible with asparagus, carrots, chamomile, chives, parsley, nasturtiums and marigolds. Marigolds are a great companion plant for all gardens and should be grown year-round as their effect is cumulative. Plants not compatible with tomatoes include fennel, corn, potato and all plants in the cabbage family. If you have any questions or would like me to do the work for you, please contact me! I look forward to hearing from you!
Happy Gardening!
